Today's modern day society consists of many different varieties of marriages. A man and a women, two women, two men and in some cases, there are more then 2 people in one union. In the year 2011, marriages of all kinds are widely accepted to a certain extent in civilized areas. Fifty years ago, homosexuals as individuals were not publicly accepted, let alone being able to marry and start a family. Marriage at the time was between one man and one women. As time past, society began to adapt to the new themes and opinions around them. Soon, gay marriage was accepted, but still today it is not fully accepted. For today's society, in my opinion our civilization has not gone through enough change to accept gay marriages the same way they accept a man and a women union because the man and the women union is the oldest and most practical union known to mankind at this point in our history.
It's not really a debate in my opinion. For centuries, the union between a man an a women was the only alternative in the realm of getting married. This obviously shows that the most practical union is the union between one man and one woman. People who would unionize otherwise, would either be executed or ex-communicated. Today, in a civilized society, a human being would not be killed for there type of union but there would be a handful of people who would oppose their union and call it unholy. Religion has a lot to do with unions. Marriage is actually a religious act which is why some people get offended when two men get married because it shows disrespect to their beliefs.
As I stated earlier, I feel that the most practical marriage for today's society is a man and women union. However, the marriages that would be the best, would have the most impact, which would be any type of same sex marriage. In a practical marriage, a man and a women get married, may have children who have children and so forth. For same sex marriage unions, having a child requires much more time and attention and raising a family would also require much more time and attention because although today's society accepts gay marriage. It can be confusing and troubling for some. Which would be best for today's society because we all need to learn how to adapt on being more tolerent.

What should Canada do with its young offender?
After seeing the PBS special on young offenders in the U.S.A. I think that the justice system in the United States has many flaws. For one, before making any accusations in a trial. The offence should do research on the child's background first and consider the child's mental state. For example, in my opinion the child Jacob did not deserve a life sentence. After hearing what the parents did to him, it was obvious to me who was guilty. However, I agree in one aspect of that trial because when Jacob was talking about the night he killed his parents he said how he didn't see the importance and the impact of what he committed. For that reason Jacob was guilty of murder. By the judicable system, he did deserve to go to jail. But, having a 16 year old -boy go to jail for killing his parents who verbally, physically, and sexually abused him all his life is obscured.
Now, that's in the U.S.A, what I think Canada should do with its young offenders is to first asses their mental condition. See if they have any psychological problems prior to the trial. Conduct an investigation on their surroundings and how the "offender" is being treated in school and at home. After doing all that research then the child should go to court to find how they should be trailed. Whether they should go to jail or not.
People may disagree but in my opinion, there should be no such thing as a life sentence for people under the age of 18. Luckily in Canada, there isn't. The maximum amount of time a person under 18 years old can go to jail for is 4 years. Which to me is great because, I believe that someone under the age of 18 does not have the same grip on reality as for a person above the age of 18.
If a child is considered guilty by the court of law. The offender should go to a behavioral rehabilitation facility to try and reconstruct the child's mental state because a child's mind is vary fragile. Going to jail for an offence is a traumatizing experience that changes a persons life forever, and I believe the offenders should consult a facility to learn how to deal with there emotions and actions before they end up doing another crime or before they end up dead. To try to teach them how to get past it and how to restart there lives. Because everyone deserves a second chance.

Change
Before talking about how the internet will help education adapt into the future. I would like to talk about what the internet is doing for humanity now. This past decade, the internet has made quiet a name for itself, to say the least, in modern day society. It has touched the lives of millions of people around the globe and has connected so many of us together from so many different areas. Some people might ask how? Well, just imagine the internet like a city, a very large city. A city that you can go to at almost anytime you wish. A place where you can purchase, view, listen, communicate, share, and above all learn. Just like physical cities, there are places that are safe, and places that aren't. This is where the internet gets most of its controversy from. But, with (fairly) new websites like: Facebook, Youtube, and Wikipedia. Many people are starting to learn how to identify if a website is legitimate or illegitimate which plays a huge role on the amount of people migrating towards the internet today.
The music business can easily be compared to the internet. If you show interest in a certain artist, people around you who also know of the artist you are interested in, might confront you and say "Hey, if you like these guys, youd love these guys.", "If you like Facebook, you'd love Twitter, flickr, dailybooth, tumblr, or myspace" and after you've checked out all those websites and chosen the few you would like to revisit on a daily or weekly basis, you are no longer an internet beginner, your internet "library", just like your music library, is being filled. This is how this "evolution" is occurring. The widening of a vast amount of peoples internet libraries.
Now, how this will effect education in the future is a very interesting question, because it can be a partial change, or a complete overhaul of how education is taught today. After, a couple of weeks in my sociology class, I've came to the conclusion that in the near future, education as we know it will be completely different with the internet because the internet has made many things come instantly. If things come instantly and endlessly through the internet, then education can come though the internet instantly. Therefore there are many more instances where we can learn. In my point of view someone who has the internet as a tool for education has theoretically more time to learn then people who do not use the internet to learn.
In my opinion, the academic educational routine will change only some stages of education. For elementary school, I think that the academical routine will more or less stay the same. Students coming in to school and coming out will not change in elementary or high school levels only for social purposes, and for the educational ability of human to human interaction which is extremely needed in modern day society to say the least. For High School, there would be computers in every class for constant internet accessibility, and some of the times the teacher would be there on a computer screen teaching the days lesson. You may ask the question, if the teacher is on a screen, why would the students go to a school to learn the course being taught? Could'nt they just do it at home? Well at the high school period of your life, your need to socialize is very important to a teenagers development process. As for Colleges and Universities, I feel like when you wake up and open your computer, your lesson will be given to you at certain times during the day and the only time somebody would have to go somewhere for part of your course would be for an exam.
We already see signs of these things happening in education today. There are many online classes that can be taken and more to come. Society is due for something new. After all humanities been through during the past decade, don't you think we deserve a change?

The Web: hurting or healing
The web, is it helping or hurting? A question that only comes from someone that just doesn't understand. The internet isn't only a place for watching a funny video or 2. It isn't for just emailing your friend with gmail, a relevent headline about a famous celebrity. It's much more then that. It's a lifestyle for a vast amount of children, teenagers, people in there 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's and so on. In my opinion, its a revolutionary tool that is changing the world as we speak. It has connected us from New York to Italy, LA to Tennessee and of course all your close friends from your local area. It makes you feel almost like your whole life is being displayed for you right infront of your eyes or right in the palm of your hands. It Entertains you, notifies you of current events, and, most of all in my opinion, is probably the best learning device that exists at this day and age. For someone to deprive or to frown upon the internet shows only ignorance and just simply not understanding present day society because in times like these, technology, entertainment and humanity is changing at a faster speed then ever before which could be very over whelming for some and very exciting for people who know how to manipulate the new tools set in front of them
.
Some things come and fade away, faintly remembered and rarely brought up in conversations. But the internet is the most relevent revolutionary tool, just like the telephone, the recording device, the television, and the radio.
.
Its the ability to have something that literally gives you what you are looking for, just by typing what you want and just a few clicks. The ability to combine a radio, television, ipod/CD player, and the ability to search for anything your looking for, truly makes singular products such as a clock radio, or a tv simply obsolete for some people who just cant get enough entertainment information or knowledge. Also having the ability to fit all that information on a mobile device is just the next step in another world wide technological revolution. Soon we may all be connected at anytime we please to be.
